Trouble with medical care lately?

Have you had trouble getting emergency medical care?

Have you been turned away from a health care facility or hospital in an emergency because you didn't have insurance or didn't have the right insurance? Has an emergency room turned you away or transferred you to another facility for financial reasons? Please contact George Schwarz at 331-5066.

Local Democratic club to meet

The Potter-Randall Democrats will have their regular monthly meeting on Jan. 28 at the Amarillo Public Library, Central Branch, 413 SE 4th.

Refreshments and fellowship begin at 6:45 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7:00. Featured speaker is Dr. Shane Hand of the Amarillo Family Wellness Group. His topic is: How to handle stress during the 2008 campaign." This is a very important meeting as some vital decisions concerning the club must be made.

Members, guests and other interested parties are invited.

Voters league to register voters

The League of Women Voters of Amarillo will register voters from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the United Supermarket at 3300 Interstate 40 East (near Grand) and Fiesta Foods at 1012 E. 10th (at Arthur) Saturday.

  • Potter County residents can register at the County Clerk's office, Rm. 205, Potter County Courthouse, 500 S. Fillmore.
  • Randall County residents can register at either the Randall County Annex, 4111 S. Georgia, Amarillo, or the Randall County Courthouse, 400 16th St., Canyon. Any citizen 18 or older who is not registered or who has moved from the address on his registration card needs to become registered by Feb. 4 to be eligible to vote in the March 4 Primary Election.

Nordic Choir to perform Jan. 29

The Nordic Choir of Luther College, which has performed at Lincoln Center in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, will perform Jan. 29 at the Amarillo Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.

The Nordic Choir is the flagship choral ensemble for Luther College, renowned for its music program with nearly 1,000 musicians among its student body of about 2,500 in Decorah, Iowa. The college started the choir in 1946. Since then it has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe.

The choir's performance in Amarillo, sponsored by Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, is part of a tour of the Midwest and Southwest, including stops in Oklahoma City, Albuquerque and Denver. The four-part program, which begins at 7:30 p.m., includes works from classical and modern composers and hymns and spirituals. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $8 for students and are available through Panhandle Tickets.
