Courtney Lee

It's not stature, but more often a hunger for excellence that leads to a distinguished career on the hardwood surface of a basketball court.

Courtney Lee

Courtney Lee is a 5-foot-7 junior guard with the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs. The Arlington, Texas native is earning a remarkable reputation for all facets of her game. She accumulated 30 points and 10 rebounds in WT's Lone Star Conference South wins over Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico. She was named the conferences player of the week on Jan. 21. Her 3-point shot at the buzzer lifted the Lady buffs to a 75-72 game over Tarleton State on Saturday. She finished that contest with 16 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Courtney also works hard in the classroom. The sports and exercise science major earned a 3.8 GPA for the fall semester. She attends church regularly and is involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. That group represents student-athletes and provides feedback to the university and the NCAA. She was recognized as an honorable mention Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar in a spring issue of "Diverse: Issues in Higher Education" during her sophomore year.

The Amarillo Independent is proud to congratulate Courtney Lee as the PowerADE Personal Best Athlete of the Week and to wish her and the Lady Buffs continuing success this season.
