PowerADE Personal Sarah Alpar Tascosa junior Sarah Alpar has been a star on the wrestling mat and a featured performer prior to the contests this year.
It may sound like an unlikely combination, but when Sarah isn't working out or competing with the wrestling team she's pursuing her talent and passion for music. She has an outstanding voice and, as a member of Les Chanteurs, is very involved with choir. Always a competitor, Sarah earned a place to sing with the All-Region Choir. Fans at wrestling matches have heard her sing the National Anthem before taking her place on the mat. Traveling with the wrestling team means that Sarah has to stay organized to keep up with her academics. Teacher Gay Lynn Bonjour said, “Sarah always has such a great attitude. She is always positive and goes the extra mile to stay caught up with her rigorous class work in addition to her athletics." Another teacher remarked about Sarah's determination and her constant willingness to work hard at everything she does. That drive to succeed brought her to an 18-7 record for her matches this year and she placed third in district competition. Even when she's lost a match, Sarah has still earned the respect of her coaches, the admiration of her teammates and the enthusiastic support of her teachers. The Amarillo Independent is proud to congratulate Sarah as the PowerADE Personal Best Athlete.
