Fire Wind

Photos courtesy of Coyote Flight Center, Teddy Acklin and Billy Powell

Blowing Smoke: Wind-whipped flames scorched the north side of Amarillo Wednesday, Feb. 13. The pictures, taken from an airplane 1,500 feet above the ground, show the scope of the fire and the direction of the pall of smoke moving to the northeast. By Sunday afternoon, the smell of smoke still lingered in the area around Hastings Avenue and Smelter Road.
