Drew Anderson

Some young people are endowed with a natural desire to do their best at everything they attempt. Drew Anderson, an eighth-grader at Austin Middle School, is a shining example of that type of dedication and determination.

Drew Anderson: Austin Middle School

Drew is a solid all-around athlete. He has competed in cross country, football, basketball, and track. His athleticism is more than matched by his ongoing effort to improve his own performance.

"We can count on Drew, not just at games, but at every practice to give everything he has to the task at hand. He wants to improve and that shows in everything he does. He keeps a good attitude, sets an example and encourages others. Drew has earned the respect of his teammates," said Austin basketball coach Curt O'Hair.

Drew efforts to do his best are also obvious in the classroom. "He takes learning seriously," said Pre-AP algebra teacher Pam Peters. "If we're working on new material or if he's having any trouble, he's here early to ask for help."

Character, determination and hard work are all hallmarks of Drew's approach to school and sports. The staff of the Amarillo Independent is proud to join his teachers, coaches and teammates in congratulating him as the PowerADE personal best athlete of the week.
