Letter to the Editor Left-wing rants as worthless as right-wing bunk I had hoped after reading Mr. Seewald's initial offering in your paper a few weeks ago that maybe he would now be providing some intelligent and independent thought to our country's affairs. It's been difficult for me to give credence to Mr. Seewald's columns in the Amarillo Globe-News in the past because of his reliance on name calling, insults, and that old familiar refrain of his that seems to intimate: if you don't agree with me, it's because you're stupid. But there on your front cover, I find his picture and a quote where he calls the president of the United States a fear mongering, vainglorious and ignorant leader. He uses terms that hardly reflect an attempt to reach independent readers. Neoconservative, jingoism, sophomoric, blather, strutting around, infamous, lunacy and fear mongering all found their way into yet another of his "if you don't agree with me, it's because you're stupid" diatribes. On the plus side, his column gives me a needed example of left-wing extremism to go along with some of Ann Coulter's right-wing bunk as I try to get my students to find reason somewhere in between.
