Supporters of fine arts honored

The winners accepted honors from the Arts Committee of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce at the Twenty-sixth Annual Golden Nail Awards on April 11 in the Heritage Ballroom at the Amarillo Civic Center.

The awards recognize financial, in-kind and volunteer contributions to the fine arts in Amarillo and the surrounding communities in the Texas Panhandle. More than 600 nominations were received from throughout the Panhandle.

This year's award winners were:

The Summit Award, for outstanding devotion and support of the fine arts in Amarillo and the Panhandle, to Sally Skaggs.

The Individual Award, for outstanding support and service to the fine arts both financially and personally, went to Mr. and Mrs. William G. Landess, Ann Crouch, Dr. and Mrs. William R. Robinson, III and Marvin Sparks of Panhandle.

The Business Award, for exceptional financial support of the fine arts by a business or corporation, went to TNT Properties, owned by Jeffrey Tidmore, and to the Ambassador Hotel.

The Foundation Award, for exceptional and generous support of the fine arts in Amarillo and the Panhandle was presented to the Mary E. Bivins Foundation and Xcel Energy Foundation.

The Distinguished Volunteer Award went to Elaine Seaton, John R. Skaggs, Bernie Sanders and Mary Jo Ondracek of Dalhart.

Special Awards were presented to Amarillo College and the Ritz Theatre Board of Directors, Wellington

The Golden Touch Awards for new, unique or innovative arts event or activity was presented to Amarillo Symphony's Music Director Announcement Gala and the "Third Thursday," sponsored by the Amarillo Museum of Art and Starbucks Coffee.
