Whitney Agee

The possibilities of a champion might be identified early, but self-motivation, hard work and perseverance carve success out of potential.

Whitney Agee: West Texas A&M University

Whitney Agee, a senior at West Texas A&M University, is one of those athletes.

Whitney's potential was obvious during her freshman year when she placed fourth in Reining and fifth in Horsemanship at the NCAA Equestrian National Championship in 2005. In 2007 she was the Western Regional Reserve Champion in Reining and a qualifier in Open Horsemanship. She was fourth in Reining at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championship. This year Whitney was the Western Regional Champion and the Western Semi-Finals Reserve Champion in Reining and a qualifier in Open Horsemanship.

But this young woman's focus is not limited to the arena. As an animal science major with a pre-vet option, she carries an outstanding GPA of 3.985. She has been a Scholar-Athlete of the Year three times, on the Dean's List one semester and on the President's List seven semesters. She holds membership in Alpha Chi, Alpha Zeta, the Horseman's Association, Pre-Vet Club, Agricultural Ambassadors and the National Champion Horse Judging Team.

The Amarillo Independent is proud to salute Whitney as our PowerADE Personal Best Athlete of the Week.
